Jimmy and I evacuated to our daughter's house about 13 miles off the island by road and 7 miles by how the seagull flies.
We have been keeping an eye on things from our live Hobbs Webcam located on the top of our office.
As long as there is daylight and the island has power and internet, you can view the beach strand right in front of our office.
Hang on to your hats and stay HobbsVised.

We have battened down the hatches, closed the office, evacuated to our "port in the storm," and are hoping to get a bit of rest before we come back and undo what we just did!
In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye on the HobbsVisory section of our homepage.
Oh, and as long as we have power on the island, you can watch the live Hobbs Holden Beach webcam. Stay tuned, and stay Hobbsvised!

Hello to all Hobbs Realty Saturday 9/7 upcoming vacationers.
Right now things are a bit uncertain as Dorian is heading up the coast toward our neighborhood.
What is certain is that Holden Beach is now closed to incoming traffic. The Governor of North Carolina has issued a MANDATORY EVACUATION for all barrier islands and we are securing properties and preparing to leave our island home.
I cannot tell you exactly what will happen this weekend, so I urge all incoming guests NOT to head our way until we have posted on the Hobbs Realty homepage that things are clear and we are back open for business, ready for guests. Keep an eye on your inbox — we will continue to email you as well.
Lots of things have to happen in the "Hobbs Realty Post-Storm World" before we can facilitate check-ins. Rest assured that I will keep you Hobbsvised on the homepage of our website!

A mandatory evacuation was ordered by the Governor of North Carolina for all Barrier Islands beginning September 4, 2019 at 8 AM through September 6, 2019 at 12:30 PM.
Hobbs Realty does not process refunds or date transfers due to evacuations.
If you chose to protect your vacation investment dollars with the purchase trip insurance, you are now eligible to initiate a refund claim with Generali Global Assistance Company.

Well, it looks like Dorian is intent on showing off and is going to cause us some trouble sooner rather than later!
The Governor of North Carolina has issued a Mandatory Evacuation order for everyone on all Barrier Islands. Everyone must be off the island by 8 AM Wednesday Sept 4.
Here is what you need to know:
I will post everything I know on the homepage HobbsVisory portion of our website.
Also keep a close eye on your email inbox for updates from me, as long as we have electricity and internet service I will be posting/emailing.
Be sure to watch the Hobbs webcam for a bird’s eye view of what is happening here on Holden Beach.
Please help us out by completing the bulleted items below:
- Empty your fridge and secure roll-out trash carts in the outside shower area or underneath the cottage.
- Lock all windows
- Close interior doors
- Bring in any outside rockers/porch furniture and put on a throw rug or blanket if possible. The idea is to secure anything that may fly away in the wind.
- Flip over large outside furniture such as picnic table and push them in the corner of the porch
- Secure elevators on the top floor of the home and flip off the power breaker to the elevator
- Close and lock all exterior doors
- Call, email or come by the office to let us know you have left the island
If you have a keyless entry system, please code-out with the following instructions.
- Please close the door
- Press any number key to lock the door – listen for the lock to engage and verify it is locked by tugging on the door
- Enter the following exit code: 123456 * (star) or √ (check mark) it is the bottom left button
If you have a key entry, please bring the key to our office front desk team member.
Brunswick County will open two (2) pet friendly shelters in our area on Wednesday, September 4 at 9 AM. You can find updated info for local shelters and road closures here.
Refunds for missed vacation days are issued through the purchase of travel insurance only. Hobbs Realty does not issue evacuation refunds or transfer vacation dates. It looks like Dorian is going to cause us some trouble later this week. Here is what you need to know:
Hobbs Realty and the Town of Holden Beach are keeping a very close eye on Dorian.
I will contact you via email as well as post everything I know on the HobbsVisory portion of our website.
At 6 AM tomorrow, Tuesday 9/3, Waste Industries will be here on the island for trash pick-up. Please be sure to roll your trash cans out to the street tonight.
Later this week whether we weather the storm together or a mandatory evacuation is declared, please help us out by completing the bulleted items below:
- Empty your fridge and roll out your trash tonight 9/2 as Waste Industries will pick up town trash tomorrow/Tuesday at 6 AM.
- Lock all windows
- Close interior doors
- Bring in any outside rockers/porch furniture and put on a throw rug or blanket if possible. The idea is to secure anything that may fly away in the wind.
- Flip over large outside furniture such as picnic table and push them in the corner of the porch
- Secure elevators on the top floor of the home with the gate open
- Close and lock all exterior doors
If an evacuation is ordered by the Mayor:
